Shots fired at local eatery lead to man’s arrest

WilliamsGonzales, LA – On Sunday, August 23, shortly after 9;00 p.m., City of Gonzales Police Department officers were dispatched to a fight with shots fired at Quaker Steak and Lube, 2706 South Cabela’s Parkway, within the city limits.

Upon arriving, officers learned that a subject identified as Ira Lee Williams Jr., 28, of East Bayou Rd, Donaldsonville, had a verbal altercation with Hispanic males inside of the establishment. Once the altercation began management asked that all parties involved leave the premises.

Upon leaving, the situation escalated to a physical altercation. A fight ensued, leading to Williams retrieving a handgun from his vehicle. Williams then fired shots into the air as the unknown subjects also involved in the altercation left the area.

Officers arrested Williams on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and discharging a firearm within the city limits.

Williams is currently in the Ascension Parish Jail in Donaldsonville where he is awaiting bond.
